This is one of those movies that really don't have a plot to speak of. It's more a series of peaks into the lives of the Senior class of Ridgemont High.
These peaks are hysterically funny, and, surprisingly enough, original. This is the quintessential 80s movie. It is filled with funny that people are still quoting almost 25 years later.
Yet there is also a heart to this movie that makes you care about these want them to succeed. The soundtrack is absolutely 80's too.
I really don't feel right giving this movie a 10 because it's really not great cinema, but it is a great movie, so it gets a good solid 8.

I don't understand why anyone believes this is a good movie. I wanted to wash my brain out with soap after watching it. I present my case: with the arguable exception of Sean Penn, the screen time that director Cameron Crowe allocates to each actor is inversely proportional to their acting ability and appeal. Viewers are subjected to the hideous pair of Robert Romanus and Brian Backer for most of the film, while the marvelous Forest Whitaker gets about 20 seconds of screen time. A dreadful movie that is not funny enough to be a comedy nor serious enough to be a drama. Awful movie.
